1. What this policy covers
This policy applies specifically to Kira Everywhere, the Kira browser extension that answers questions about the page you are reading. It is separate from the Kira Privacy Policy covering the kiraai.ai platform, and separate from the policies for the other Kira extensions, which behave differently.
Kira Everywhere reads a page only at the moment you ask it something. When you do, that page is sent to Kira so it can answer. It reads nothing in the background, keeps no history of where you have been, and saves a page to your memory only when you press Save.
2. When it reads a page
Only when you ask. Pressing Summarise this page, sending a question, pressing Save to My Brain, or choosing one of the Kira items in the right-click menu each reads the page you are on at that moment. Nothing is read before you do one of those things.
The extension declares no automatic content scripts. It is not running on the pages you visit, and it cannot read a page you have not asked it about. It does not watch which sites you open, and it keeps no browsing history of any kind.
What it reads is the readable text of the page, its title, its address, and your current selection if you have one. It does not read other tabs, other windows, cookies, passwords, or anything stored by the site.
3. What is sent to Kira, and when
Answering a question about a page necessarily means sending that page to Kira. There is no on-device model; the answer comes from the Kira API.
| Sent | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your question, and the page text, title and address | Each time you ask something or press Summarise | So Kira can answer about that page |
| The last few exchanges in the panel | With each question | So a follow-up like “and the second one?” makes sense |
| Your time zone | With each question | So answers about dates and times are right for where you are |
| The page, or just your selection | Only when you press Save to My Brain, or use the right-click menu | So it can be kept in your Kira memory |
Everything above goes to the Kira API and nowhere else. The extension contacts no third party, and contains no analytics, telemetry or tracking of any kind. What Kira does with what it receives is covered by the Kira Privacy Policy.
The conversation shown in the panel is held only in the panel, in memory. Closing the panel discards it. A page you asked about is not kept by the extension; a page you saved is kept in your Kira account, because that is what saving means.
4. The connection to your account
The extension does nothing until you connect it, from the Kira app, to your Kira account. Connecting hands it a token, which is stored in your own browser and sent with each request so Kira knows whose account to answer for.
That token is only ever sent to Kira's own API over https on kiraai.ai; the extension refuses to store a connection pointing anywhere else. Only pages served from app.kiraai.ai and app.staging.kiraai.ai can connect it at all — no other website can reach the extension.
If the connection stops being valid, the extension forgets the token and tells you how to connect again.
5. Why it asks for access to the sites you visit
Kira Everywhere is installed with access to kiraai.ai only. It asks for permission to read other sites the first time you press one of its buttons, and Chrome shows you that request. Until you allow it, the extension can read a page only immediately after you click its toolbar icon on that tab.
Granting it does not make the extension read anything on its own. It is what lets Kira answer about a page you switched to while the panel stayed open, rather than failing until you click the icon again. You can withdraw it at any time from Chrome’s extension settings.
6. What it never does
- Never reads a page until you ask it something about that page.
- Never records which sites you visit, or keeps any browsing history.
- Never reads other tabs, cookies, passwords, or site storage.
- Never saves a page to your memory unless you press Save or choose it from the right-click menu.
- Never sends anything to anyone other than Kira.
- Never sells or transfers your data to third parties.
- Never uses your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
- Never loads or executes remote code — all code ships inside the extension package.
7. Deleting your data
Disconnecting the browser, or removing the extension, deletes the token and everything else the extension holds. There is nothing else stored on your device.
Pages you saved live in your Kira memory and are deleted from there — by removing the item, or by deleting your account. The Data Deletion policy describes that route, and questions can go to support@kiraai.ai.
8. Children
Kira Everywhere is not directed at children under 13.
9. Changes to this policy
If what the extension reads, or what it sends, changes in a future version, this policy will be updated before that version ships and the change described here with a revised date.
10. Contact
For any question about privacy in the Kira Everywhere extension, contact support@kiraai.ai.
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to common questions.
No. It reads a page only at the moment you ask something about it, summarise it, or save it. It is not running on the pages you browse, and it keeps no record of where you have been.
Yes — that is how it answers. Your question and the page text go to the Kira API. A page you merely asked about is not kept by the extension; a page you pressed Save on is kept in your Kira memory, which is what saving means.
So Kira can answer about a page you switched to while the panel was open. Without it the extension can only read a tab immediately after you click its icon there. Granting it does not make the extension read anything on its own, and you can withdraw it from Chrome at any time.
No. Only app.kiraai.ai and app.staging.kiraai.ai can reach the extension at all, and the connection token is only ever sent to Kira’s own API over https.
Yes. The extension answers through Kira, so it does nothing until you connect it to your account from the Kira app.
