Research

How we build reliable, safe, and genuinely helpful AI agents — our focus areas, how we work, our safety commitments, and selected work.

Our approach

Kira research is applied: we work on the problems that make AI assistants dependable in real workflows — accurate tool use, grounded reasoning, and safe autonomy. We pair fast iteration in the product with careful, repeatable evaluation, and we treat safety as a first-class engineering requirement rather than an afterthought.

Where we focus

  • Agent reliability: planning, tool use, and graceful recovery from errors.
  • Grounding and memory: keeping responses accurate to your data and context.
  • Safety and alignment: guardrails, oversight, and refusal of harmful requests.
  • Personalization: adapting to your preferences without compromising privacy.
  • Evaluation: rigorous, repeatable benchmarks for quality and safety.

How we work

  1. Prototype quickly against real tasks drawn from how people use Kira.
  2. Measure with held-out evaluations for quality, safety, and reliability.
  3. Red-team new capabilities before they ship, and again after launch.
  4. Roll out gradually, monitor in production, and iterate.

Responsible by design

Human oversight first

For consequential actions, Kira keeps a human in the loop and is transparent when people interact with AI.

Our product rules are codified in the Usage Policy, and our data practices in the Privacy Policy. Research decisions are reviewed against the same standards.

Our safety commitments

  • We do not train models on your content unless you explicitly opt in.
  • We keep a human in control of high-stakes actions such as sending, paying, or scheduling on your behalf.
  • We design agents to refuse harmful, deceptive, or unlawful requests.
  • We evaluate for quality and safety before shipping and monitor after launch.
